Staff spotlight – get connected to Natalie Fowler

24 January 2024

Our people are what make BeFibre great – every single one of them represents what we stand for – and represents a very important piece of our puzzle. What better way to understand our mission, than by quizzing our colleagues on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they’re such a crucial part of the team?

First up it’s our community engagement manager, Natalie Fowler…

1. Tell us about your role at BeFibre – what are your key responsibilities?

Community engagement is about creating and nurturing the relationship of the BeFibre brand within the local community and to look for opportunities to positively show the brand to a wider local audience. We also pride ourselves on the support provided to the local community as part of our corporate social responsibility.

2. What’s your favourite part of the job?

As well as upgrading communities to have FTTP, which is crucial in the world we live in, we then look further into the needs of the community by engaging with the residents and councils to see where we can support and give back. I am passionate about helping others with a natural flair for making a difference where it counts!

3. For you, what makes Digital Infrastructure/BeFibre stand out from the crowd?

We are very customer centric which is reflected by the real strong customer focus we provide. People and the communities we serve are at the heart of everything we do, which is represented internally by our amazing employees who act as advocates for BeFibre, and of course you can’t miss our amazing branding.

4. How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

I had to ask — bubbly, warm, enthusiastic, and caring.

5. Describe BeFibre in three words…

Evolving. Supportive. Fun.

6. Is there a life motto which you swear by?

“Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today” and “Always stay curious”  – sorry, that’s two!

7. If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

A book.

8. If you were the boss for a day, what one rule would you implement?

I had to think about this as we do have a good culture here already but I would maybe say a 1 x 30 min slot each week designated to use for mindfulness/meditation etc. The benefits of these types of activities have a huge impact, such as increased productivity and positivity to name but a few.

9. Complete the sentence: When it comes to broadband, it’s crazy that people don’t know…

It’s crazy how people upgrade their phone, tablet, TV and all of their smart devices i.e smart home hub etc – but they don’t consider upgrading their broadband from old copper wire to FTTP to support this. For example, you wouldn’t buy a brand new car and leave the old wheels on!

10. If you could give a colleague an award for going ‘above and beyond’ who would it be, and why?

I think the award should go to the whole BeFibre team. For me personally, everybody that I work with is always incredibly approachable, supportive, patient, honest and of course with a sense of humour added in the mix. I do want to give a shout to my manager Rachel Cater as she is awesome! As you can see, I do like to talk so I am definitely in the right role!
