Staff spotlight – Be connected with Paul Main

Our people are what make BeFibre ‘BeBrilliant’ – and every single one of them has our five core values at their heart. So, what better way to bring them to the fore, than by quizzing our colleagues on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they’re such a crucial part of the team?

First up it’s our national sales manager, Paul Main…

Be Proud

Tell us about your role at BeFibre – what are your key responsibilities?

My primary role is to build a team of honest, dedicated sales executives – or as we like to call them, ‘service providers’ – who ensure our customers receive a broadband service that delivers an exceptional experience, time after time.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

It feels like I am creating a family that’s delivering happiness directly into people’s homes – changing their expectations of broadband, and effectively making a positive difference.

Be Awesome

For you, what makes BeFibre stand out from the crowd?

BeFibre is bold, vibrant, and best-in-class when it comes to delivering a reliable, fast internet service as part of its vision to offer ‘broadband as it should be’. That vision is what brought me to this company – I’ve spent 26 years in telecommunications, and this is the first time I’ve been given the autonomy to be truly part of a brand I really care about.

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

Trustworthy, honest, and loyal.

Be Bold

Describe BeFibre in three words…

Bold, innovative, and genuine.

Is there a life motto which you swear by?

‘Be kind, put others first’. Well, that and, ‘if you look after the people, the people will look after you’.

Be Innovative

If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?

Music. I like everything from classical, jazz, and the old crooners, through to meditation and hip-hop – and that’s just to name a few! It’s safe to say I have a wide-ranging, eclectic taste in music.

If you were the boss for a day, what one rule would you implement?

Take some reflection time. The days can get away from you very quickly, so pause for five minutes and look inwardly. Someone once told me that ‘life is like a traffic light’ and you need to know when to stop rushing around on ‘GO’ all the time:

  • Green – Go! Don’t look at what’s behind you.
  • Amber – Pause, look around.
  • Red – Stop, take some ‘me’ time.

We all work better when we learn to adapt.

Be Customer-Focused

Complete the sentence: When it comes to broadband, it’s crazy that people don’t know…

…what ‘Broadband as it should be’ means – and instead, settle for mediocre service.

If you could give a colleague an award for going ‘above and beyond’ who would it be, and why?

This is a hard one. I think our entire brand team deserves a shoutout, particularly Sinead Gilbert (head of brand) for the recent campaign launch. There’s also Nicola Bull (regional engagement manager) and Harrison Lee (regional sales manager) who are instrumental in orchestrating BeFibre’s ‘summer roadshow’, and not forgetting Claire Rennison (sales administrator) – who is the backbone when it comes to support for my own team.

While this is a long answer, not one person goes ‘above and beyond’ – everyone does. That’s the BeFibre culture. As such, we all flourish and become the best version of ourselves, and in doing so create, live, and breathe a vision that delivers above and beyond everyday.
