Brightlingsea first resident now connected to BeFibre’s new full-fibre broadband

Next-generation broadband provider BeFibre – which announced it was coming to Brightlingsea back in November – has now connected the first of approximately 3,000 residents to its new full fibre network.

Frazer Millington of Red Barn Road, Colchester, now has future-proofed connectivity which delivers the guaranteed speeds the Millington family need now and for years to come.

Commenting on the recent installation, Frazer said: “Having a house full, with four children aged between three and eighteen, the prospect of a full fibre connection was very exciting and seemed a little too good to be true. However, we’ve been consistently getting speeds of between 820 and 900 Mbps for over a month now and had no issues whatsoever.”

The installation process was simple too, the engineer visited at the end of the previous week to run the fibre cable from the telegraph pole to the external wall. From here, all they had left to do was run the cable internally, install the ONT on the wall, and plug in the Linksys router — a speed test was also run upon completion and the engineer connected our devices too.”

The announcement marks the town’s official launch of the fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) connectivity, following approximately ten months of preparations to design, build and test the network, which is constructed by BeFibre’s sister company – UK telecommunication infrastructure owner – Digital Infrastructure.

“We’re thrilled to have upgraded yet another of our customer’s worlds and welcome them onto the BeFibre network — the Millington family’s  previous 45 Mbps broadband package was unable to cope with the demands of multiple devices. However, BeFibre’s 900 Mbps full fibre package will give the family the consistent upload and download speeds they’ve been searching for.” explained Louise Elliott, chief customer and operations officer for BeFibre and Digital Infrastructure.

“We need greater connectivity than ever before – whether we’re busy with video calls, working from home, binging on box-sets, or gaming. In truth, being online is now a necessary part of everyday life, therefore, we’re moving in line with an ever-evolving broadband market with our fit-for-the-future infrastructure, to ensure that we meet demand.”
